COVID-19 Updates

Pool Training

Great news! Pool training will resume from the 18th of September at Pyle Pool but there will be a number of changes that we will all have to follow.

  • The are a maximum of 30 people allowed at the pool at any one time.

  • This will include a lifeguard and 2 coaches and will mean that 27 swimmers are allowed.

  • If more coaches are needed this will reduce the number of swimmers and numbers will be confirmed weekly.

  • All swimmers must be paid up Club Members.

  • A booking system will be in place to confirm the numbers of swimmers attending each week and this will be through our WhatsApp Group.

  • We will need to meet outside the pool at 19:45 for registration and payment and will also ask you all a few health questions and take and record your temperature.

  • We will be called into the pool at 19:55 by the lifeguard and enter the pool through the main doors.

  • All swimmers must come changed ready to swim and must bring a bathrobe or long coat as the changing rooms cannot be used.

  • The are yellow spots 2 metres apart around the pool where swimmers can leave their bags.

  • You can only enter the pool at the shallow end.

  • Diving is only allowed by climbing out of the pool at the deep end as walking around the pool in not allowed, except to collect you belongings when you leave the pool.

  • We will leave the pool the same way we entered through the front doors.

  • Toilets are only available at Reception and only one person can use them at a time.

  • The balcony is closed for spectators until further notice.

  • Payments can be made by bank transfer or by having exact money as change will not be available.

  • Hand sanitiser will be provided before and after training and please ensure that you use it.

This is a lot of information but it will help to ensure that pool training can resume safely, but all the coaches are looking forward to seeing you all back at the pool. If you have any questions please ask!

Beach Training

After a discussion with the trainers over the weekend, we cannot see how we can safely return to training yet with the current socially distancing restrictions. When children are learning to use boards and swimming in the sea, they need close contact with trainers, which we are unable to provide presently.

However, from this week we will allow anyone wishing to use the club equipment to do so on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening between 6-7 pm. There are however strict conditions:

  • Anyone using the club and equipment needs to be a fully paid up club member.

  • Hands will need to washed on arrival in the toilets.

  • All children need to be supervised by their own parents. This may mean the parent will need to be in the water with their child if they are NOT experienced in using the equipment.

  • Any child turning up to use the equipment on their own will not be allowed to do so if parents are not present.

  • The showers and changing rooms cannot be used.

  • All equipment will need to be cleaned and sterilised before and after use by hosing down and spraying with Milton that will be in the equipment room.

  • Everyone will need to sign in and out of the building in the green file upstairs.

  • Anyone showing any symptoms of COVID-19 must notify the club and stay away for the required period.

  • Toilets can be used but will need to be cleaned after use using antibac spray and wipes that will be provided.

  • Current social distancing measures will need to be adhered to at all times.

Members of the Club are also completing voluntary beach patrols when the RNLI cover ends. If you would like to become an RNLI Lifeguard Volunteer and support the RNLI lifeguards on our beaches please follow this link.
